New Blog for Summer Ballet Camps - Check it out fast for Early Bird pricing on Camp!

There was just SO much new info I needed to get out for the Ballet Camps this summer, I created a blog for them!

Check it out! These camps run for 5 days and cover 5 ballets! They are similar in structure to the Beginning Ballet Workshops, and they will be SO MUCH FUN! Save the second week in June and plan on joining us for Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Nights Dream and MORE!

Oh, and the camps are a fund raiser for my son's own ballet camp, Ballet West's Summer Intensive. Read all about THAT at dancedreams2015.blogspot.com.

Check Out Article on Ballet West's Visit to Cache Valley!

Hi friends,

Ironically, our lives are filled with more ballet than ever, but this blog has been terribly neglected! Phew, I'm busy! This week we enjoyed a performance by Ballet West right here in Cache Valley. If you missed hearing about it, I'm so sorry! I set it up for the homeschool community. If you DON'T homeschool, make sure you let your child's elementary school know you want Ballet West to be able to visit them!

Anyway, the event was covered by the Herald Journal. Check out all the fun pictures, details of the presentation, and quotes from participantts in this past Friday's edition of the Herald Journal, or here.

NEXT week, I have arranged two field trips to see Ballet West perform Aladdin at the Capitol Theater. And sadly, if this is the first you are hearing about it, it's too late for that too! BUT be sure to get in on the NEXT opportunity by visiting Goschoolers.com. This website is where much of my recent energy has gone. :) Everyone is welcome to join, and if you do, you will not only hear about the next opportunity to take in great dance, but you'll be invited to ALL the fun things the Goschoolers do! (There IS still room in the Valley Dance Ensemble field trip, so join soon! That one closes next week. In May, I'm hoping a trip to a Salt Lake Bees Baseball game will come together!)

Finally, I WILL be hosting summer camps in June of this year. These camps will be daily for one week and cover FIVE ballets! (In structure the will be very similar to the Beginning Ballet Workshops, and for the same age range.) I'll have time to pull all the details together and get the word out in May, so stay tuned for info about those!

Sorry for my long absense here, but I hope everyone is doing well and loving dancing more than ever!

Best,
Steffanie

Something Old, Something New

Thanks to everyone who participated in all our Beginning Ballet Workshops. Tomorrow, we wrap up Swan Lake with our own mini shows. I have loved these experiences with your children. As I have visited with parents, I have realized how special our time together is. I am not aware of any ballet class like ours anywhere in the world! How sweet and special that we can learn about ballet in the thick of doing our own ballets and in the context of the REAL, famous ballets. It has been a fabulous learning experience for me, and I hope it has been for you as well!

Though I thought I might be done, my son has been accepted into Ballet West's Summer Intensive - a six week, six days a week, six hours a day summer program. The bad news is it costs $2400. But the good news is that in an effort to help him raise funds, I will be offering MORE ballet classes, and probably even more ballet workshops.

Information about these classes, for beginners to advanced dancers, can be found on the private lessons page, as well as the blog we started for our fund raising efforts, dancedreams2015.blogspot.com. Please visit that site to find out more about what we are up to and pay for classes directly to our dance fund!

I am also currently formulating a week long Ballet Camp to likely be held the second week in June. It will be much like the beginning ballet workshops, just packed in 5 days instead of spread out over a month. I hope you will join me for any and all of the above.

If you have interest in the classes and/or summer camp, feel free to email me any time at steffaniecasperson@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous year of ballet with me! I have enjoyed working with all the little dancers! I will try to post ballet-related events on the events page here as they arise too, so stop by from time to time!

Happy Dancing!
Steffanie

Swan Lake Finishes

Swan Lake is the last of our Beginning Ballet Workshops this year. Sniff! I hope you have enjoyed them. NEXT week is our final class, on Feb 23, which means it's performance time! It also means NOW is the time to enjoy watching the pros at it on youtube. Hope you enjoy these videos! I'll send an email with performance details, but if you have pink or white tights (or black) please wear them for our final class. (They look better with the costumes.)

And stay tuned for the next exciting ballet developments. Though this may be our last workshop, we are certainly not done loving ballet!

This is from Act 3, where our own performance will begin.
And below is where it will end... :(

And for a personal touch, this is the dance of the 4 Little Swans which I did with Ballet West - same dance, different company, though I trained with PNB. They make it look easy! I hope I did too.

Final personal touch, here is the Swan Lake Act III turns with Carrie Imler who I was in school with! She was always amazing! :)

This blog is for the ballet lovers I know. I hope it will help gather my ballet stuff in one place and keep it out of my crazy email inbox and crowded mind. As a formal professional dancer who worked to perfect her craft for 20 years, ballet is still in my heart, mind and soul. Consequently, I'm also excited to share my many ballet musings and opinions here. Thanks for stopping by to share in the love for this breathtaking art form.
